The Veteran’s Legal Aid Society, funded by private donors, is an awarded program available to indigent veterans and their families (who are residents of the State of Illinois) with financial need who require the assistance of an attorney. You must adhere to the following application guidelines in order to qualify for full consideration.
ALL APPLICANTS
In order to demonstrate financial need, all applicants must provide their most recently filed tax returns, with all attached schedules, W-2s and 1099s. Additionally, all applicants must provide documentation of the veteran’s status through a copy of the DD-214.
AWARD
After verification of eligibility, the Board members will meet to ascertain the amount of assistance that it could provide to the applicant through pro bono attorney time or funding towards the legal assistance of our registry attorneys. The dollar amount of these awards is contingent upon the level of funding the organization receives and is at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

This form and supporting application materials must be received by the appropriate State WITHIN 30 DAYS. Incomplete applications will not be considered. If you choose to apply to more than one SUS institution, you must submit complete application materials to each. Addresses are listed at the end of this form.
